A Skid Row Concert Review for Knoxville, TN April 30, 2000 By: Jammie S. Foster I arrived; with my mother and cousin, at Thompson-Boling Arena before the gates were open. After purchasing a few items we went to our seats. The seats were pretty descent. Before I knew it the show was starting. The arena was not full but I would say well over half. The band started things off with a bang. The crowd absolutely loved the show. I wasn't the only one who wanted more than a 30-minute set. So, it would appear that most that were in attendance were pleased with Skid Row 2000. Johnny, Rachel, and Scotti were all over the place. Snake was as well though he stayed mainly on the left hand side of the stage, through the audience view. This was to be expected after the type of ankle injury he is recovering from. I applaud him for having the strength to continue on with the tour. I have had a similar injury so I do know that it is hard to recover from. Charlie is great on the drums and very talented. However, his style is different from Rob's so please keep an open mind. I thought Charlie did an excellent job. Johnny is a star on the horizon. He knew exactly how to work the crowd and get them psyched. I was on my feet the entire 30 minutes. I had read that Sebastian had influenced Johnny. It does show but Johnny is Johnny not Sebastian. His style is also somewhat different but it works. I'm not going to spoil the show for those of you reading this that have yet to see the show. I do ask that you keep an open mind and not compare the Skid Row of present with the one of old. For those of you doubting Charlie and Johnny I suggest taking some rope to tie you down to your seats. A bit of advice, expect the unexpected. Charlie and Johnny deserve to earn your respect for who they are not being judged on their predecessors.
